Imm cologne is the world’s leading furniture fair
The imm cologne (from January 15-21, 2007 at the exhibition center in Cologne) is the meeting place for the international furniture industry. Imm cologne is the world’s leading furniture fair. The figures speak for themselves: about 1,400 exhibitors, of which 65 per cent from other countries. More than 50 nations will be represented; about 130,000 trade visitors from 125 countries, of which 50 percent are “decision takers”.The theme is modern design furniture, accessories, textiles, lighting and complete living philosophies.
The most interesting is:
In Hall 11, the underlying message is 'Pure'. Modern furniture design, living accessories, textiles, lighting – the scenes are defined by entire living philosophies.Visions of the future, blended with tangible reality. Solitary forms for individualists and design-freaks alike; if you like it, anything goes.
In the Prime Zone (Halls 2, 3 and 4,) everything turns on living room concepts for the home; natural and solid wood designs with bedroom furniture. There is plenty new to see, for example furniture designed to go with the ubiquitous flat screen, Dolby surround-systems and networked media, in a flood of innovation.
Sweet dreams: there is now a special offensive towards quality and better bedrooms: presented and packed full of detailed solutions in Hall 9 “Dreamer”. Rounded off by mattresses, sleeping systems, beds, blankets, duvets, bed linen and accessories.
Take-home products are now elegant; and for a long time they have been every bit as good as conventional items. Smart, ultra-modern, mature and functional, they are of steadily increasing popularity. All these categories have been grouped in Cologne's Smart Zone for pick-up products, extending through halls 7 and 8. One spirit, three events' – [d3] design talents is about to go into the second round. This year, the creative arena will be located in Hall 1 - Talent-Arena, oozing triple concentrated design power. Joining in the fun: the 'inspired by cologne' talent competition, where the next generation has a chance to show what it can do.
In Hall 4.1 the buzzword is 'sittable'. The focus is on tables, chairs and dining room furniture; and rightly so. Halls 5, 6 and 10 will show all the furniture industry's sofa talents.
For many years the Ideal Houses section at the imm cologne has been a magnetic draw for the general public.
As in the years 2003 to 2005, in 2007 they will once again be located inside red cubes, but this time in a central position on the Messeboulevard, the busy North-South main pedestrian axis through the Cologne Fair. For the first time, the forthcoming imm cologne will feature a design for the ideal home by London architect Zaha Hadid.
In 2007 the imm cologne will feature innovation. For the first time, this international furniture industry meeting will also host an exclusive architectural event. Entitled 'Architecture Code Cologne'. Hall 1 will be converted into an exciting Get-together-Arena for architecture and art; the aim is to build bridges from creative activity to pleasure and sensuality, making full use of synergy and releasing hidden potentialy. From the 16-18 January, a star architect and a prominent personality from the fields of art and culture will meet onstage in the arena at the imm cologne 2007.
After the great success at the imm cologne in the years from 2003 to 2006 the interior innovation award cologne 07 will be presented for the fifth time. The 'interior innovation award cologne' gives prominence to outstanding achievements in the furnishing sector. Awards will be made in five categories: Best Item, Best System, Best Detail, Materials Innovation and Classic Innovation.
