Fiberglass wallpapers are made from glass fibers instead of paper or vinyl. For their production, molten glass is stretched into long, thin threads, which are then processed into a special fabric. Finally, the fabric receives a coating that gives the fiberglass wallpaper its final properties and structure.

Properties of Fiberglass Wallpapers

Fiberglass wallpapers are considered the most durable and stable wall covering on the market, significantly more stable than traditional woodchip and vinyl wallpapers. They are resistant to scratches, tears, stretching, rotting, moisture, mold, and are environmentally friendly. The fabric itself can withstand mechanical stress, chemical damage, and is also fire-resistant and flame-retardant. This makes them ideal for high-use spaces, such as public buildings (hospitals, etc.), industrial and commercial buildings, high-humidity areas (kitchens, bathrooms, attics, basements), corridors, and staircases, even children's rooms due to their antimicrobial properties. 

They are suitable for reinforcement and preventing the spread of more cracks, holes, and other surface imperfections. In addition to their practical properties, fiberglass wallpapers can be repainted multiple times. Suitable paints include latex, lacquer paints, and glosses.

Are Fiberglass Wallpapers More Economical?

Fiberglass wallpapers are significantly more expensive than standard wallpapers. However, they are substantially more durable, can be repainted multiple times, and are easy to clean—therefore, frequent replacements due to damage or wear are not required, making them more economical than other wallpapers. 

When installing fiberglass wallpapers, as with all other wallpapers, ensure that the surface on which they are applied is clean, strong, smooth, and dry. However, special adhesive for fiberglass fabric is required for their application.
